Aside from the musicians we just talked about, people like Arthur C. Clarke, Jules Verne, Philip K. Dick, H.P. Lovecraft, Tolkien, George Lucas and Steven Spielberg (especially for their older work, of course), and of course Indiana Jones, Han Solo and the Great Elder God Cthulhu.

The original Star Wars trilogy, The Indiana Jones movies, Back To The Future, the Ghostbusters flicks, The Neverending Story, Alien, E.T., and a whole host of other old SF and fantasy movies. I'm also a big fan of older films, like Casablanca, the old Hitchcock movies, Spartacus, The Ten Commandments, old war movies like The Great Escape, Patton, A Bridge Too Far, etc...

Pretty much anything by Arthur C. Clarke, Jules Verne, Philip K. Dick, Ray Bradbury, Alastair Reynolds, H.P. Lovecraft and the like. I'm a HUGE reader of SF, and there's just WAY too many amazing authors to mention, especially in short fiction.

A lot of the classics – Day of the Tentacle, the Monkey Island series, X-Wing & Tie Fighter, the Wing Commander series (chalk up another one for the Maniac!), the Elder Scrolls series, Grim Fandango (I'll buy anyone who remembers this one a beer!), the Fallout series, Heretic, Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, the Gabriel Knight series, Mafia, the old Sierra series like Space Quest, King's Quest & Leisure Suit Larry, and so on and so forth...
